Two marketing tactics to reevaluate in 2012

12/21/2011 9:11:35 AM

Entrepreneurs have a clean slate ahead of them, so to speak. While some may have had minimal success in 2011, the upcoming year presents new opportunities to turn their businesses around. However, before they implement their new marketing strategies, they should construct a marketing plan that takes some of last year's weaker strategies into consideration. Here are two potential marketing tactics that could improve business in 2012.

Instead of selling a product based on its potential use, change a sales pitch to directly target those consumers who need the assistance immediately. Whether a merchant or a service provider, altering promotions to include a sense of urgency can greatly improve conversion rates.

Additionally, many entrepreneurs have heard that posting unique content online can promote a service. Unfortunately, many business owners do not understand how to effectively execute this tactic. In 2012, entrepreneurs should create content that provides industry-specific information and email the newsletters to mailing list leads.

These two methods have been used before, so they won't revolutionize marketing as a whole. However, entrepreneurs should pay extra attention to how they incorporate these strategies into their branding. Each will be even more influential to success in 2012.
